Women at the sidelines

England Football Learning pledges to 'get onside' in association with Women in Football

We're helping more females to step over the sidelines and into coaching within grassroots football
England Football Learning is delighted to be taking part in Women in Football's #GetOnside campaign, helping to create real change and equality in football. Our pledge is as follows:

We pledge to #GetOnside by helping more females to step over the sidelines and into coaching across recreational football.

#GetOnside Pledge

This commitment is underpinned by our Women in Coaching offer, which aims to support female coaches in recreational football. Specifically, the launch of our Stepping over the Sidelines (SoTs) workshop is designed to help women take their first step into a coaching or volunteering role.

What is Stepping over the Sidelines?

Stepping over the Sidelines is an introductory workshop for women and girls of all ages and backgrounds who would like to get into volunteering and coaching football.

Delivered online or face-to-face, the workshop aims to break down some of the barriers such as, “I have no playing or coaching experience” or “I don’t know the rules” and looks at skills & attributes that individuals may already hold which can be transferable to coaching football.

It is also hoped that the workshop will inspire females by highlighting other positive role models who are influencing change within the game as well as giving a flavour of the prospective next steps, including the BT Playmaker by England Football and the Introduction to Coaching Football courses. It is the perfect opportunity for clubs to engage their parents, players and increase their female volunteer base.
