Revealing the ball to attack

Guide 5 - 11

Hiding and manoeuvring the ball are usually associated with dealing with pressure from a close marking defender, but in this case, they’re used to help build an attack.
The coach in the video below has a great setup and conditions on the game to encourage players to break defensive lines and go past opponents when they’ve revealed the ball to them. You’ll also see the coach deal really effectively with individual players as he looks to challenge and support them further. He’s particularly effective in working with the goalkeepers to ensure that their value to the team when playing out from the back is highlighted.

Watch how the players respond to the game and to the encouragement from the coach to be positive and creative when on the ball. This is a great example to follow.
